Choosy About Food? Check Chewsy for Dish Reviews

Searching area restaurants for a favorite dish? The new version of Chewsy just released, Chewsy 4.0, can help. Chewsy is a free iPhone app that concentrates on and logs comments on specific dishes, not just restaurants.

In this updated version, the search function has improved, allowing you to search for dishes, food categories, ingredients and specific food reviewers, whether they are professionals or friends. Feedback from early users helped determine these upgrades.

You do not have to take one person?s word; there are multiple reviews available. In addition to average diners? take on the food, Chewsy has compiled thousands of reviews (including videos) from recognized food critics. Compare reviews easily and quickly, so you can start your meal as soon as possible.

When RESCUECOM asked what Chewsy users say they like most about the app, Chaitanya Sareen, CEO and co-founder, replied, ?The ability to see multiple critic reviews (we have almost 100 sources) of specific dishes via Chewsy is quite powerful. Now you know what Zagat thinks is the best burger in New York and you?ll even see if Serious Eats agrees.?

?People tell us they value seeing what their friends like and dislike,? Sareen added. ?When you review a dish, you can optionally share a witty one-liner we generate for you. People really love these comments, especially when their friends think they came up with them.?

Take a photo of a dish to share, enjoy the food, and then add your comments, whether you agree or disagree. Rate a perfect dish with five spoons. See if your evaluations correspond to the experts? and your friends?.

Since the app is on your phone, it?s a valuable tool when you are out and about, even far from home. What restaurants are nearby and serve dishes that please everyone in your dining group? Check Chewsy. Not sure what you want to eat? Chewsy will also show you the top-rated dishes available near your location on its improved map.

Chewsy says it wants to help critics by spreading their opinions, and diners by offering advice and sharing their opinions.

The company accepts reviews from all over the country. ?We are happy to report that since our most recent update, which features critic reviews, our active user count has more than doubled,? Sareen noted. ?We have almost 800,000 restaurants in our database. We have reviews in all the major U.S. cities, including New York City, San Francisco, Chicago, Atlanta, Austin and of course our home, Seattle. While we also have reviews across a dozen or so countries, the U.S. is our major focus for now.?

As more people participate, the reviews improve their recommendation power. Building a Chewsy community is an important aspect of the app.
